It’s medium-to full-bodied with medium chewy tannins and finish. Without hoopla, Peterson controlled the quality of most of those companies' wines. James Suckling scored this 92 points saying "Tight and focused for a 2017 with plenty of ripe-berry and light spice character. Grapes for this Cab were sourced primarily from their Cloverdale Estate vineyard in the heart of Alexander Valley. Under Bob Trinchero, the proprietor of several renowned California wineries, the quality at Folie a Deux has skyrocketed. Petite Sirah is often found in blends with Zinfandel.Folie a Deux has blossomed since coming under the Trinchero family umbrella in 2004. Many other varieties grow comfortably here, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Syrah. Sauvignon Blanc, the valley’s signature white grape, also performs exceptionally well. These old vines create a powerful, voluptuous and sultry wine unlike those of any other region. Zinfandel reigns supreme here and still produces in a great number of very old vineyards-often 100 years old or older. The warm and welcoming appellation is home to a number of family-owned vineyards and wineries that place a strong emphasis on sustainable farming practices. Fertile, well-drained soils create concentrated varietal character while long, warm days, bookended by cool nights, allow grapes to reach full phenolic ripeness and balance. One of the smallest AVAs in California, Dry Creek Valley has a winning combination of ideal geography and climate.
